About me

Dr Ian Norman BA (Hons)(Keele), MSc, (Edin.) Dip HE (CBT)(KCL), PhD(Lond.)

I am a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist  with previous clinical experience of working in a psychological treatment outpatient service in the NHS.

I work in partnership with individuals to help them to gain a clearer understanding of their difficulties and how they can overcome or manage them and prevent them from re-occurring.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) has a strong evidence base and is recommended by the National Institute for Health & Care Excellence (NICE) https://www.nice.org.uk/ as the psychological therapy of choice for many common mental health difficulties, including anxiety and depression.

However, I also have experience and training in other talking therapies (including person-centred therapy and mindfulness) and work in partnership with my clients to devise a therapy plan which is practical and personalised to meet their individual needs.

I grew up in Devon and have lived in Surrey for  many years with my wife; we have a grown-up daughter.

For more information about me, see my Wikipedia page.
